Simon’s Town is perfect for a relaxing, romantic weekend away from all the hustle and bustle of Cape Town. My girlfriend and I spent a weekend at Thalassa in September 2014, and really enjoyed it.
The house is the perfect beach house, with a beautiful view of the ocean and lots of light coming through which makes it warm and inviting. Despite the fact that there were only the two of us, we never felt overwhelmed by the house – it has such a friendly atmosphere and it ‘invites’ you to use different areas. I can imagine that even with a large party, people will never feel like they are on top of each other.
Ivy takes great care of the house, and was there to meet us on arrival. When we arrived, the beds were freshly made up, and the house was spotless.
Simon’s Town is a very quaint, pretty town, with lovely small shops and little restaurants. We really enjoyed strolling through the village, browsing in interesting shops and having a drink at the local pub.
The fact that the sea is in walking distance from the house makes it perfect for a beach holiday or, as we experienced it, a chilled weekend away from the city. The beaches are really beautiful and we spent a happy few hours relaxing at Water’s Edge and swimming with the penguins at Boulders.
I highly recommend Thalassa as a holiday house. It is in the perfect location and is such a beautiful house with an amazing view.
